The Seoul Shakespeare Company (SSC) will present a six-week acting course in Haebangcheon, Seoul, beginning Sunday.
Titled "Preparing to Perform: Strategies for Approaching Shakespeare's Text," the course will be conducted by Lauren Ash-Morgan and Michael Downey.
The aim is for actors to develop an extensive toolkit for approaching Shakespeare's language, and to open the actors up to new and interesting choices, guided by the language.
"This six-week workshop is an in-depth exploration of strategies to maximize the performance potential of Shakespeare's text," the event organizer says.
Ash-Morgan has a dual background in education and performance and is the Artistic Director of SSC. Downey recently directed SSC's highly successful production of "Much Ado About Nothing" and will direct the production of "The Winter's Tale." Other directing credits include "A Circular Play" by Gertrude Stein and "New Year's Eve" by Dave MacGregor.
Downey has been an influential member of SSC since 2010.
